SPIRITLAND TALKS: Roddy Doyle & John Doran
For the next Spiritland Talks, Roddy Doyle is joined by John Doran (The Quietus) for a talk about his musical inner life to celebrate the publication of his new novel, Smile on Thursday September 7th from 6 - 8.30pm.
Smile is the stunning new story from Roddy Doyle – winner of the Man Booker Prize for Fiction. It bears all of his trademarks – humour, razor-sharp dialogue, a superb evocation of childhood – but this is unlike anything he has written before.
The ticket price includes a cocktail on arrival and the exclusive opportunity to purchase the novel at a discount and have it signed by the author. Tickets are limited to just 80 and available via the link here.
Ben Smith is best known for his long-running collaboration with Paul 'Mudd' Murphy, whose recent album Gorthleck has been on heavy rotation here since release. He'll be playing a set influenced by his love of kosmiche, Balearica, neo-folk, ambient, OSTs, deep synth patches and more.
The Hydra: Dolan Bergin & Ajay Jayaram
Together, Dolan and Ajay are the creative forces behind The Hydra, one of London's most forward thinking and ambitious club promoters. They're also heavyweight selectors themselves. Come and hear them put the Spiritland system through its paces on a Saturday night.
Making his Spiritland debut on Friday is Guilhem Monin, who already feels like part of the family having played alongside John Gomez, Donna Leake, Nick the Record, Esa, Deborah Ipekel, Andrew Ashong and more. Check out his Social Joy radio show and record label for a taste of his style.
