Simone Marie

Playing bass for irrepressible stadium rockers Primal Scream would satisfy most musically, but not Simone Marie. Her passion for DJing is as strong as ever and her record box reflects her wildly varied – but always on point – musical tastes.

We're really delighted to have her at Spiritland for a Saturday night to remember.

Citizen Helene

Citizen Helene is a musician and DJ from London. Her broad-ranging sets span easy disco, boogie, funk, AOR, jazz and more. Probably a sprinkle of emotional pop music too.

In addition to DJing, Helene is a musician and long-term collaborator with artist Mary Epworth, providing synths, backing vocals, percussion and guitar in her live band.

She's played records at various London venues including at a sold out LCD Soundsystem show at Alexandra Palace last year, in addition to several UK music festivals, such as Field Day, Port Eliot and Green Man.

Matthew Halsall (Gondwana Records)

Matthew Halsall is one of the UK's leading figures in jazz. As a composer, producer, trumpeter, DJ and founder of Gondwana Records, Matthew has become a cultural catalyst for modern music, combining his love of spiritual jazz, deep electronica and crafted songwriting across a series of albums.

His Spiritland monthly residency continues where he'll be exploring his musical world in depth and breadth.

Hot Mule & Secousse present: Cosmic Sounds

French reissue label and internet radio station friends Hot Mule and Secousse put their latest release on the Spiritland album cover altar, in celebration of a Nigerian disco lost classic.

They'll be playing the repress of N'Draman-Blintch's impossibly rare LP "Cosmic Sounds", complemented by a wealth of other lustrous West African music, and more.

Ricardo Paris

Corey & Jack Hemingway

London-based artist Corey steps up with the freshest of selections to start another week of world class sounds, alongside her brother Jack.

Rhythm Doctor

Simply put, Rhythm Doctor is a supreme DJ. His knowledge and passion for classy music is second to none and it's backed up with the skill to effortlessly blend those beautiful grooves into a wonderful evening of sounds. This session is not to be missed.

Quite possibly one of the country's longest-serving club DJs, Chris began on the 1970s Midlands punk/dub scene, before taking house, boogie, funk and more to London and beyond throughout the 1980s. Now based in Tallinn, Estonia, he joins us for another rare appearance.

DJ, producer and unstoppable collector/selector Wrongtom is back again – this time to coincide conveniently on the same evening that we're screening Babylon at our neighbours, the Everyman Cinema.

Expect a huge box of dub, lovers rock, brit-jazz, funk, synth pop and loads of other records which soundtracked the UK at the time of the film's release – from Kingston and her Caribbean cousins, to Brixton, Birmingham and Bristol.

Vesa Liede

Excellent taste? Check. All vinyl? Check. Weekend resident? Check.

Long time aficionado of all things beats, breaks and B-Boy culture, cratedigger Vesa returns to Spiritland with his enviable record collection for a rhythm section-led Sunday.

Minus Kendal

An old head on young shoulders, weekend resident Minus stops by for another Sunday session.

A weekend worker at Flashback Records and host of his own monthly radio shows on NTS and Balamii, Minus is a natural cratedigger, to be found playing anything from gospel to krautrock, disco and all stops in between.

Markey Funk

Jerusalem-based musician, producer, DJ, turntablist, crate-digger and music archivist Markey Funk is a staple of the Israeli groove scene, from his own projects to his killer funk band, The Apples.

From hip hop beats, a fully sample-based debut album, to remixes for a wide variety of local artists, his musical palette has grown constantly wider and deeper, embracing everything between psychedelia, early electronica and library music.

Gabrielle Kwarteng

A first generation Ghanaian-American and New York City native, Gabrielle is often credited for displaying her diverse sonic tastebuds during her sets, which can easily range from Brazilian funk to soul to Chicago house to even '70s West African disco.

She transports her audiences around the globe, seamlessly weaving in obscure genres stemming from every continent – with the probable exception of Antarctica.

Rita Maia

Lisbon-born, London-based Rita is a DJ at Worldwide FM with Migrant Sounds, her own radio show (and club night). Taking her record bag across the globe in an incessant search for new music, Rita is also a curator for SheSaidSo, an international Women in Music group. As a Creative Director, she is also currently working on a documentary and compilation album focused on African heritage in Lisbon's new dance music scene. We're anticipating rhythmic, rare and engaging records from Rita's lusophone catalogue and beyond.

Greg Boraman

Greg has spun everywhere from Madrid to New York City, and provided DJ support for legends such as Roy Ayers, Betty Lavette, Shuggie Otis, Brian Auger, Carleen Anderson and The Brand New Heavies. Having been involved in London’s soul, funk & jazz scene since the mid 1980s, he's steeped in decades of the finest underground sounds. Greg has been the A&R/creative force behind legendary London soul & jazz record label Freestyle Records since 2010 and signed to the label artists like Omar, Courtney Pine, Carleen Anderson, Brian Auger, Jessica Lauren, The Shaolin Afronauts & Kizzy Crawford.

He is also The Fantastics! Hammond organist/pianist (as he was previously for The Soul Destroyers on Jazzman Records), plus a music writer, radio & TV mouthpiece. This has included weekly spots for many years on the Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show and on BBC TV's The Culture Show.

Expect deep jazz, rare soul, funky folk, reggae, rocksteady & bossa nova and beyond.

Anaïs (Boiler Room)

Paris born and bred Anaïs is based in London where she works as a film maker for Boiler Room.

Her sets are carried out unhurriedly, with no strict music policy, linking together repetitive grooves and textured beats from different parts of the globe.

This is for listeners with a limitless love for sound, who're looking for musical discovery across genres, soundscapes and eras.

Norsicaa (Soundway Records)

A familiar face behind the decks as well as the counter at Sounds of the Universe record store, Alice's far-reaching repertoire and eclectic taste can be heard on her Soho Radio 'Norsicaa' show, as well as at festivals and events around the world.

Following on from being a main organiser of the ground-breaking Manana Cuba festival in 2016, she keeps busy as Label Manager of the world-respected independent record label Soundway Records.
