  • House

As singer/songwriter, and sole constant member Jon steered The Beloved
from Peel Session quartet in 1985, to Blissed Out duo by 1988, to the
global omnipresence of Sweet Harmony in 1993, to a state of near-hibernation
post 1996.

He occasionally resurfaces as a “feat” or collaborator and in the current decade
has worked with artists as diverse as Westbam and Robbie Williams.

As a DJ he had a parallel career between 1993-2006, enjoying residencies at Ministry
Of Sound, and then Fabric as well as traversing the UK and Europe for regular guest slots.

He occasionally plays out in clubs, in a loosely-defined Balearic style.
(“Balearic is a state of mind, not a genre”)

In Spiritland mode his selection widens and draws from everywhere.
Songs known to everyone, songs that deserve to be.
Music to sooth, music to groove.
Open, deep, honest.

Get ready for a very rare appearance from two house music legends at in the intimate surrounds of Spiritland Royal Festival Hall.

Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon, are indisputable architects of the French Touch - the emotive house music conjured from looped samples with an inimitable Gallic flare that emerged from Paris in the mid 90s. Both had pivotal, separate collaborations with Bangalter - Falcon with Bangalter as Together (“Together,” 2000 & “So Much Love To Give,” 2002), Braxe with Bangalter as Stardust (“Music Sounds Better With You,” 1998).

This year they presented their first ever collaboration as Braxe & Falcon in the form of the Step By Step EP, released on Smugglers Way - a sublime distillation of their shared musical essence and a compelling expansion only conceivable for them at this point in time.

They join us at the end of an extensive world tour for their one and only London show at Spiritland Royal Festival Hall. Support comes from our friend, DJ and producer Aroop Roy. A recent B2B session with Mr Scruff led him to say "Aroop Roy is a ridiculously skilled selector. It was a privilege and pleasure to play with him.”

Tickets priced at just £10 for this special night of house music magic.

Edna is a DJ with a vinyl-heavy selection of music sourced from her parents' collection as well as her own record shop finds in London and beyond -picking up records on her travels with Rough Trade-signed band, Goat Girl. Raised in Deptford and Whitechapel, she's inspired by the variety of sounds she heard across the vast city. Living in a world that's often so technology-centric, Edna prefers vinyl’s analog form because it supports living in a more organic reality. Never ruling out a particular genre, whilst merging music from past to present, her groove-oriented sets are an eclectic but finely-tuned mix of soul, R&B, dub, reggae, funk and jazz, never failing to bring the heat of the sunshine to the dancefloor. Her enthusiasm for life is reflected by the music she plays and her love of dancing. You can get a glimpse of the magic when you come to witness Edna on the decks!

Tom Blip runs the vibrant Blip Discs imprint which has steered a consistently impressive path through bass music, house and traditional African sounds since its inception in 2015. His latest release was voted amongst the top 50 Fact Mag singles of the year in 2019 and the young producer has plenty more hotly tipped releases cooking for 2020. His remix for ‘Heyyeh’ by Penya (due out January via On The Corner) has already been exciting dance floors and track ID groups alike with plenty more originals on the way for the latter half of the year. As a DJ, his sets are often just as far reaching and unpredictable as his label which should keep absolutely any music head on their toes.

We're very glad to have Mr Blip back in our KX venue for a night of wizardly spinning.

We ain’t afraid to cry, but then we aren’t reticent to strip to the waist and beat our chests in a display of primal expression either. And this shit needs soundtracking and to be made available to stream on the internet and we need it now."
