Sibson
07/08/2021 RFH
- Balearic
Sibson is Mikey, the man behind the secretive Elevator Edits imprint. He started out playing punk records in the sticky basements of his hometown, Leeds, in 2010, honed his craft at selector parties in the capital and is currently between Berlin and London with his music blog 45turns, the Balearic Ensemble label and a monthly show on Threads Radio.
His sets, drawing on percussive rarities, cosmic stompers, hair-raising rock & roll and jazz-flecked disco curveballs, have seen him do several trips around Europe as well as acclaimed sets on radio stations like Le Mellotron in Paris, Red Light in Amsterdam, Kiosk Radio in Brussels and Radio Raheem, Milan.
Mikey also runs London’s Elevator East bash, an underground gathering of heads that offers the chance to hear eclectic, no-holds-barred selections from trailblazing new talent and legends alike. Previous guests include Leo Mas, Sean Johnston, Nancy Noise, Don Carlos, Chris Coco, On The Corner Records, Ric Piccolo, Pardonnez-Nous, Nik Weston and Pabels.
2020 would have seen a South American trip with dates at Lollapalooza Argentina and Montevideo’s Phonotheque among others, but 2020 had other plans. Instead Sibson has been laying low, working on his productions and trying to figure out where home is.

Geraldo Oliveira (GeraH) is an inquisitive Brazilian record collector now based in London.
Having played at a good deal of underground clubs and parties in São Paulo, he also created Laca Negra, tapping into multiple facets of soul, jazz and R&B at different bars.
In 2019 GeraH co-founded Dublab Brazil (Brazilian branch of Los Angeles station Dublab) with DJ Zinco and the journalist Monica Herculano.
He will be going b2b with fellow compatriot Plinio from the Ondo Onda Collective
Plinio is a selector and guitarrist. Born and raised on the west side of Sao Paulo, Brazil, he has experienced and absorbed all of the cultural manifestations that a vibrant megalopolis can offer. Curious about the folkloric and the traditional, his music is a reflection of the places he has been and of times that are long gone but thankfully recorded on vinyl.
Based in London for the past 6 years, he plays guitar with Los Pussatas Fritas and is part of the cultural collective Ondo Onda, which holds a monthly show at Netil Radio and promotes parties in east London.
Expect South American rhythms, forgotten dances, tropical flavours and good old jazz.

As well as the records, they know how to throw a party. 2019 saw Friday late night sessions in a King's Cross basement, to lazy Sunday sessions on some of London's best sound systems.
