Though we already knew of Jon through his work with Pete Fowler as Seahawks, it was his mid-afternoon set at Port Eliot this summer that reminded us to get in touch: easy breezy not-quite-disco played on one cassette tape, precipitation and other ambient sounds played on another, with both sets of sounds having been put through some degree of phaser. Perfection.
Jon's been playing records for over 20 years and making music way longer. He runs the Lo Recordings label along with the Lo Editions music library and the Ocean Moon label. In the past he's recorded for R&S, Ninja Tune, Rising High, Jive and more.
The most recent Seahawks release 'Eternal Beams' features new age legend Laraaji and is a good indicator of where Jon's head is at right now. Expect lots of deep new age music, along with expansive electronic landscapes and some smooth beats.
Jon also makes music under the names Cherry Garcia, Brain Machine, Pink Fluid and Beach Wizards.

"I’m trying to play the truth of what I am. The reason it’s difficult is because I’m changing all the time." Charles Mingus
Hear lost music from a jazz giant through the Spiritland sound system – days ahead of its official release.
The electrifying recordings took place during Mingus' week-long residency at Detroit's Strata Concert Gallery in February 1973. They were broadcast live by drummer/producer and broadcaster Robert "Bud" Spangler for WDET FM – a public radio station dedicated to jazz.
The performance captured on these tapes is simply breathtaking: five masters of music channeling their greater spirits for an intimate, enraptured audience. It's a time-machine journey into a sensory experience of that evening; listeners glimpse a taste of the furious energy and compositional sophistication of this monumental modern creator and his jazz workshop.
DJ support comes from experienced, deep collector/selector Tony Higgins of BBE Records.
