DJ Amir

- Jazz/Funk/Soul
For the past 13 years DJ Amir has been blessed to tour the world extensively. First as one half of the trailblazing DJ duo Kon and Amir and now as boss to his own label 180 Proof Records.
From an early age, Amir’s ears were filled with the warm and colourful sounds of jazz, gospel, soul, and disco coming from his parents' stereo. As a young man, he made the leap from this soulful home and dove head-first into the world of hip-hop the first chance he got. But instead of the clean break he had anticipated, he discovered so much of his parents' classics sampled in the music of his peers. Intrigued, Amir found himself tracing ties through the music — first with light curiosity, soon, tirelessly. This came to be his passion: to map the sonic lineage of hip-hop.
It was kismet that Amir would meet fellow crate digger and kindred spirit Kon in 1996; instantaneously becoming fast friends and collaborators. Beginning with the esteemed underground On Track mix tape series, Kon & Amir have since released twelve compilations, including three volumes of Off Track, the follow-up to the On Track series. Kon & Amir’s expertise has been sought by Shady Records, Pete Rock, Diamond D, and Capitol Records, to name a few.

After crafting a string of successful vinyl-only disco edit releases on various notable labels, Serge has spent much of the last few years slavishly digging into the history of Massachusetts' late 70s / early 80s little-known underground disco scene, emerging in 2018 with his first compilation on the world famous BBE records, lovingly-titled 'Boston Goes Disco!'.
Today, Serge continues to raise the bar with countless edits, reworks and appearances globally.

Niles and Baggy tell it best in their own words:
"We know emotion, we live emotion, we are emotion. We know pain and we know glory. It courses through our veins and drowns our hearts. Love and hate, joy and sadness, anger and fear – we are in touch with our souls. We ain’t afraid to cry, but then we aren’t reticent to strip to the waist and beat our chests in a display of primal expression either. And this shit needs soundtracking and to be made available to stream on the internet and we need it now."
