Spiritland is teaming up with New London Architecture for a series of talks with the creative forces who have transformed King's Cross, starting with the leading British designer Tom Dixon.
Having dropped out of the Chelsea School of Art to play bass in the band “Funkapolitan”, Tom Dixon began teaching himself first to weld, then to produce furniture.
Tom rose to prominence and by the 1990’s, was a household name in the design field, serving as Head of Design at Habitat and later Creative Director. In 2000, Tom's work was formally awarded OBE by Her Majesty the Queen, before settling up his own design company in 2002, which includes an architectural interior design practice, Design Research Studio.
The evening starts at the Tom Dixon studio and shop, before heading to Spiritland for a night of music and conversation. The ticket price includes a welcome drink and three course meal, with one third of the price going to the Hendy/Murray Fund, which champions diversity and accessibility in architectural training.
