Roberta Reachout

Roberta is a long time heavy music head originally from Bari, Puglia living in London for 30 years.

Adopting herself to the Talking Loud events at Dingwalls, and then later Bar Rumba's ‘That’s How It Is’ and the Straight No Chaser magazine family she soon became a well connected link between Italy and the 90’s underground London scene and all its trends.

As a Straight No Chaser scribbler, correspondent for Acid Jazz magazine and RadioItaliaNetwork, Roberta went on living her dream in London for being the place where music has always been happening and the club scene has always been strong in terms of legacies.

This to mention the later merging of another extremely important music fam into Roberta’s life as a digger as this one came via professor-friend-dancer-writer Tim Lawrence (thank you Tim! for introducing her to David Mancuso (RIP) and the Lucky Cloud Sound System and for inviting her to join the party set-up volunteers group).

In recent years, together with organising unique multimedia Arts crossover events-parties for selected clients/festivals in Italy, the ultimate leitmotif of her search has been reaching out to people to open up for new directions hence the never forgotten purpose of wanting to be a radio broadcaster-music selector that plays music with a message hence her new acclaimed name as a dj-selector as Roberta ReachOut.

Currently on air monthly on Totally Wired Radio (ReachOut Sound Emporium), it’s an incredible joy watching her spinning (Bookclub, The Seveney, The Horse & Groom): being such a natural happy dancer with complete devotion to music, spinning has just become second nature to Roberta as for the first time she has the challenge to be playing a long set which means there will be #moremusic as she always reminds, old friends Norman Jay MBE or Gilles Peterson, at the end of an email.

  • Jazz/Funk/Soul

Sought-after by Björk, Tom Walker, Disney and more, Australian-born, London-based singer and jazz harpist Tara Minton has written and recorded an extraordinary record inspired by the mythology of mermaids.

A jazz album with depth and a sense of expansiveness, the harp acts as a powerful undertow within the ensemble, capturing the listener and sweeping them away into previously unexplored waters of sound.

With artwork by painter and musician Blanche Ellis, ‘Please Do Not Ignore The Mermaid’ will be released on 6th November as a limited-edition CD and vinyl, with only 500 copies of the former and 250 copies of the latter available.

Tonight for the first time, the entire album will be played on heavy-duty vinyl at SPIRITLAND, with an opportunity to hear from Tara Minton on the album, interviewed by Jonathan Wingate, broadcaster and music journalist.

Discs of Fun and Love is a label run by Miche and Frederika. Both of them spread their time between London musical institutions such as Spiritland, NTS and Worldwide FM.

In their spare time they continue to dig for the next essential record to add to their ever growing collections.

The label itself shines a light on forgotten music and focuses on bringing lost, soulful treasures to the dance floor once more. Affordable, remastered and beautifully packaged, no aspect is forgotten in their quest to re-release a product the artist can be proud of sharing once again.

The label's releases can be found across the globe and their first two releases from Rochelle Rabouin & Sweet Mixture earned a wave of support from Gilles Peterson, Hunee, John Gomez, Mafalda and many more

As well as the records, they know how to throw a party. 2019 saw Friday late night sessions in a King's Cross basement, to lazy Sunday sessions on some of London's best sound systems.
