We are delighted to team up with Poon’s for our latest supper club.

The first Poon’s Restaurant opened in 1973 in Chinatown, followed three years later by the iconic and beloved Covent Garden site at 41 King Street (now a Burberry store.) It was the definitive Chinese food hotspot throughout the 1970s, with everyone from Mick Jagger to Barbara Streisand dining there. In 1980, Bill Poon was awarded a Michelin Star and restaurants in Geneva and The City followed.

Coming to the present day, Bill and Cecilia’s daughter Amy has brought back Poon’s, cooking Chinese food from the heart and with love. We were delighted to collaborate with her during our time at JOY in Portobello - now we’re bringing her and her team to Spiritland Royal Festival Hall for a one-off night of Chinese food, drinks and music.

Menu proposition:

Soya bean and preserved mustard green salad
Pork and bamboo shoot wontons, crack sauce

Beggar’s Bowl Hakka Pork Belly
Chargrilled Aubergine in Lisle Street Zha Jiang Sauce
Bill Poon’s Fried Chicken Wings
Baby Gem in Seasoned Soya Sauce
Bak Choy Steamed Jasmine Rice

Traditional Chinese Almond Milk Dessert

Toby Tobias

Toby fell in love with House in the early nineties, driving in convoy to warehouses, fields, seedy basements and sports centres around London with one goal: to dance all night. He dove into the wider world of all things Techno, Breakbeat and Rave in his early teens recording Kiss FM shows by the likes of Colin Dale, Steve Jackson, Paul Trouble, Fabio & Grooverider and Colin Faver, the latter playing his first demo on his show as far back as 1992. Since then, Toby has recorded for a slew of labels most recently including ESP institute, his output ranging from dreamy Balearic affairs to intense analogue hardware jams. Today, he’s a part of the Phonica Records family with whom he holds a monthly residency in Soho. As a DJ, Toby hypnotically mixes from a vast knowledge of music and brings his versatile selection to the world’s best venues.

Toby Tobias makes a very welcome return to Spiritland playing an evening of deep electronic music, offbeat disco and rare synth jams.

We waited more than two years from the initial 2020 date to get Danny Krivit in. We couldn't hold out that long again... the disco don returns for a second extended five hour set at Spiritland Royal Festival Hall this October.

There are very few DJs whose influence in dance music looms as large as the legendary Danny Krivit. Growing up in Greenwich Village, Danny was surrounded by music, working at his father’s club ‘The Ninth Circle’, where he met Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Mingus, John Lennon & Yoko Ono amongst others. In 1971, Danny was becoming part of the underground New York scene, club-hopping and meeting some of the greatest DJ names of the era including Nicky Siano, Walter Gibbons, Tee Scott and one formative influence in particular - David Mancuso and The Loft.

Via The Loft, The Record Pool and long time friendships with Larry Levan and Francois Kevorkian, Danny has been a defining presence in New York’s nightlife known with an immaculate list of residencies and appearances at clubs including the Roxy, Area, Danceteria, The Ice Palace, The Limelite, Red Zone, Save The Robots, The Tunnel, The World, Shelter, Sound Factory Bar, Twilo, The Warehouse and many, many others - even a guest spot at the legendary Paradise Garage. Since 1996 Danny, Francois K and Joe Claussell have been the guiding forces at the legendary Body and Soul night.

This is a rare second (!) chance to hear Danny digging into his 50,000 strong record collection for one unmissable night beneath the disco ball from 9pm to 2am. Only 200 tickets are on sale for this event. Book early to be part of this very special night of music beneath under the disco ball.
