Chris Sullivan has played at just about every groovy European nightspot worth mentioning. A DJ since aged 14, he began with Northern Soul seven inches, moved onto funk in 1976. He started promoting and DJing in London with the first ever warehouse parties 1978 and then in partnership with Rusty Egan and Steve Strange of Blitz fame did the club Hell in Covent Garden.
He then went onto DJ his famously influential Wag Club that he founded and ran while fronting his hugely influential funk jazz Latin big band Blue Rondo a la Turk who signed to Virgin for half a million squids.
He has DJ’d continuously since the eighties almost and every London club of note including the Ministry, Ronnie Scott’s, Aynoe House, Momo and The Playboy, Soho House group etc and every party worth talking about in London with gigs in Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Barcelona, Milan and Ibiza on countless occasions.
He has DJ'd at parties for amongst many others: Elton John, George Michael, Jean Paul Gaultier, Madonna, Rhys Ifans, Jude Law, Comme Des Garcons, Bianca Jagger, GQ, Esquire, Elle and Italian Vogue and did the opening parties for both the Venice Carnival and Milan Fashion week.
He also often plays film premier parties and art openings in the city and each year takes DJ slots at the Byline Festival, Houghton Festival, London Design Festival Closing Party and his own Portobello Soul festival.
We welcome him to Spiritland for his long-overdue debut on a Saturday night.
