Producer, drummer, percussionist and DJ Nick Woodmansey aka Emanative has produced records for Brownswood, On The Corner, Ninja Tune and most recently a double gatefold LP for Jazzman. He's also a trustee of Gilles Peterson’s Steve Reid Foundation along with Four Tet and Floating Points, among others. Whilst his productions have been rooted mainly in deep and spiritual jazz, his eclectic taste and vinyl selections cover all corners of the globe and all genres. Expect all manner of earthly delights from the deep and diverse to the strange and funky. He joins us for a DJ set to celebrate his latest release 'Vibes From The Tribe'.
Emanative comes through yet again with a collaboration blessed with the experience and wisdom of Phil Ranelin – trombonist and co-founder of the legendary Detroit based independent label Tribe Records and one of the world's great underground jazz elders. A brand new version of what is undoubtedly an untouchable classic, and yet somehow Ranelin and Emanative bring the necessary freshness and vibes galore to this new rendition for 2019 and beyond.
This one is indeed a very special release, and is coming out on limited edition 7” vinyl, with all contributions artistic and otherwise being donated and all proceeds once again going to Gilles Peterson's Steve Reid Foundation. Recorded at fellow trustee Sam Shepherd's Floating Productions Studio – with both the studio time and the skills of in house engineer Tim Pennells also generously contributed to the cause.
