The jazz world lost a production titan this year with the passing of Rudy Van Gelder. On what would have been his 92nd birthday, Tony Higgins pays tribute to the prolific record producer, recognised as perhaps the most influential figure in the sound of jazz, engineering albums on CTI, Savoy, Prestige and of course, Blue Note.
