Spiritland at JOY returns – for just six weeks

13/05/2021

Summer is here and we’re ready for some good times down on the canal in Ladbroke Grove

Spiritland at JOY returns from Tuesday 18th May with a packed few weeks of music, culture, food and drink.

Every Tuesday night we’re hosting a live jazz session from some of the UK’s greatest jazz musicians playing to an intimate crowd. You can see Tara Minton, the Irene Serra Quartet, the Jay Phelps Quartet and Wild Card featuring Denys Baptiste playing on stage every Tuesday night during this very limited run.

There’s a Saturday afternoon residency with Terry Farley and Friends who will be digging out gems from their collections from 1pm-6pm.

There’s also three very special talks on consecutive Wednesdays: Norman Jay MBE speaks to journalist Mark Webster on Wednesday 2nd June about his life in music, followed by a DJ set, and singer Roland Gift (Fine Young Cannibals) in a very rare one-on-one conversation with our friend and regular host Miranda Sawyer on 9th June.

Finally, we welcome back the Dub Maestro himself Dennis Bovell. Seen most recently in Steve McQueen’s film Lovers Rock, he’ll be talking about his life at the centre of the UK Reggae scene (and on the outer edges of Punk) as well as playing his own music on the 16th June.

This time around the food comes in collaboration with the iconic Poon’s London and our spirits come from The House Of Suntory.

We’re at JOY for a good time and definitely not a long time. Book yourself in here
