Two legends come together at Spiritland for another session.
Playing an explosive mix of Jazz, Latin, Soul and contemporary dance music to discerning crowds across the planet, Paul Murphy has been deejaying since the late ‘70s. His musical journey has wound its way through residencies at celebrated London clubs The Wag, The Electric Ballroom (where he founded the now famous Jazz Room), The 100 Club and Hoxton Square’s Blue Note, via performances alongside the likes of Tito Puente & Celia Cruz, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Jimmy McGriff and Lonnie Smith. Paul was featured on the Whistle Test BBC show about the Wag club in 1984. Paul Murphy was also the first WIRE Magazine DJ of the Year in 1985.
Somehow, amidst all of this, Paul also found the time to run a successful Clerkenwell record shop and manage Palladin Records (1984 - 1986), overseeing the release of the politically inspired Venceremos, by London based Jazz-Dance collective Working Week.
Gilles Peterson once stated, “Paul Murphy found almost every jazz dance classic". He has several compilations under his belt including Jazz Club Volumes 1 & 2 and two volumes of "The Jazz Room" on BBE. Luca Carluccio is a Berlin-based DJ and curator, radio host on Refuge Worldwide, and founder of the record label and party series ELSI. Deeply embedded in the music industry, Luca spends his days helping !K7 Records license music for their quintessential DJ-Kicks compilation, and his nights running ELSI.
As a DJ, his sets are known to showcase the deepest of cuts from his native Italy alongside a varied palette of uptempo sounds.

Darran P returns with another guest - this time Gripper.
Having DJ’d around the U.K., USA and Europe since 1987, Graham ‘Gripper’ Newby has released 2 critically acclaimed albums as Tambores En Benirras on Ibiza’s NuNorthern Soul label - ‘Orbe Dotado’ (2021) and ‘Ondas Horizontales’ (2023).
He currently plays residencies at Ibiza’s Word Of Mouth and Amsterdam’s Kashmir Lounge, as well as having been a regular guest at Pikes and Pikes On Sundays over the last couple of years.
Previously Gripper has released music on Steven Mallinder’s Off World Sounds, Om Records, Grand Central, Fat City and ATIC amongst others, as well as remixing tracks from artists such as AIM, KRS-One, Shaun Ryder, seminal NY label Bottom Line and more recently Ireland’s Freebooter Lounge and Higher Love Recordings.
Having played at venues such as Quadrant Park, Cafe Mambo, Fabric, Koko, and Ministry Of Sound parties, expect an deep and eclectic selection of new music from across the genres.

Sorcha and Mike have been DJ’ing together for 8 years starting with a monthly show on Brighton’s 1BTN radio station.
They each create a monthly radio show for the Danish label ‘Music for Dreams’ known for its danceable Balearic / Electronic / Ambient music.
Also, they DJ beachside at the WOM Radio Cafe in Ibiza, and Mike DJ’d for The Chillout Tent at the We Are Love Festival last year.
By day, Sorcha creates limited edition art prints, having collaborated with & photographed artists like Roisin Murphy and Grace Jones, Sorcha’s work is in part, an extension of her huge passion for music. Sorcha’s DJ style is based within soulful house and Disco.
Mike has been DJ’ing on and off for nearly 30 years. In the late-90s he ran the dance vinyl department at HMV at Piccadilly Circus, before moving to Australia where he was dance music buyer for the biggest music retailer. Mike was also a member of the management team at the wonderful independent record company Inertia Music (now PIAS Australia) during the 2000s.
